The Art of Hungarian Cooking
Author: Bennett, Paula Pogany and Velma R. Clark, Illustrated by: Willy Pogany Drawings and Guache Publisher: Doubleday Company New York NY, 1954
A true rarity for the bibliophile and/or art collector, an original guache signed on the half-title page of his sister's cook-book created the year before he died (1882-1955). The colorful dust-jacket was designed and rendered by Wily Pogany who also created the black and white line-drawing chapter illustrations. The entertaining book was compiled by Paula and home economist friend Velma; after exhaustive food and wine (grin) tastings with friends and family where the flavor of Hungary's ex-pats added spice to the gatherings. The front page bears inscriptions in blue ink signed by both Paula and her brother Willy, dated 1954. Photo supplied on demand.
